Weekly Photo Challenge: From Above

Turns out that I don’t have a lot of photos taken from above!   I’m not sure if it’s because I just haven’t been looking down, or if I’m afraid of heights! So I had to go back to 2007 for this one, before the arrival of our son, so this seems like it was taken a lifetime ago.  This was taken in Bandelier National Park in New Mexico sometime in December. It may not look like there is much of interest in this photo, but if you look closely in the center is the outline of an ancient pueblo. It looks a bit like a fan. (It might actually be a kiva, which is more of a ceremonial structure, I’m not 100% sure)  A home for a group of Ancestral Pueblo People.  A really fascinating area, I hope to go back later this year!

    • The other site uses WordPress software, but is self-hosted. I started it to see if I could figure out how to set up a website on my own. Self hosting is just way more computing power than I needed for blogging considering the amount of traffic I was getting, so I’m going to try to use the other site for something else, but continue blogging using this new site.

    • I’ll be blogging on this site now. The other site was my own website that I set up and was self hosting. It’s more computer power than is really needed for blogging so I wanted to use that site for something else. I’m already finding that WordPress search features bring in more readers!

Funny that you should mention ‘Mad Men’! I had come up with all sorts of variations on that show’s title for the blog title. Then I remembered how much that show makes me cringe, and didn’t want to reminded of it. Since I worked in advertising it hits a little too close to home sometimes. So it’s one of those rare things that I both like and don’t like at the same time.

    • When I saw what the challenge was I remembered that photo from 5 years ago and then spent an hour or so looking for it. I’m not sure if having photos on CDs is really easier than printed photos. I just end up with stacks of CDs that are not any more organized than my stacks of photos.

      • I have one large portable hard drive that I’m now saving my photos on, in libraries. I’m also learning the joys of tagging… you can tag topics as well as faces!

      • It’s one of our goals this year to get our photos organized, along with organizing everything else!

And I almost forgot, I didn’t notice the snow melt until you mentioned it!
